New Delhi:
A tourist guide has lodged a complaint that he was gangraped at a five-star hotel near India Gate in the high security zone, central Delhi, just 2 km from Delhi Naught Place Market, police said on Sunday. Survivors named six people, including a woman, after which the main accused was arrested, they added.
The incident happened on September 18 and the survivor was tortured the next day, police said.
They added that the hotel room where the crime took place was booked by two businessmen.
The survivor, who also works as a ticket booking executive, was in dire need of money and the accused called the hotel on the pretext of giving him a loan at a lower rate, police said.
New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Aish Singh told NDTV that a case has been registered against 066 accused, including a woman, at 376D, 3૨3, IP 34 IPC PS Connaught Place, on the complaint of the victim.
“The victim was lured into a hotel room under the pretext of being given a loan at a subsidized rate by the alleged persons. The victim was working as a tourist guide cum ticket booking agent and was in dire need of money. The room was booked in the name of” two businessmen, “he added.
A man named Manoj Sharma, a resident of Delhi’s Seth Sarai area, has been arrested in connection with the case.
Further investigation and search for other accused is underway.
