Tour de France Stage 8

Refresh

Today we are waiting for the GC war to stay alive, this is a reminder of the top ten on the GC.

Just 3 seconds ahead of Yates Roglik, Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) is at 9 seconds, Egan Bernal (Enios) and Tom Dumoulin (Jumbo) and another GC rider are at 13 seconds.

Elaphilip ranks 11th in 15 seconds but is expected to try to take back the yellow,

Sam Beverly is leading the Piloton for Mitchell, while Inios Australia is riding in the back formation of the Australian team.

Jumbo-Visma sits behind their big rivals.

The 13 riders have improved quickly and are working together again. They know they need to stay together and try to get as much time as possible so that later they can take charge of the GC leaders on the main issues.

Jerome Cousin kicks away and wins the intermediate sprint. Michael Morkov (Disenink) surprised with his initial attack with a maximum of points and a prize of 1500 euros.

The break is to reach the intermediate sprint.

105 km to go.

Riders can now see piranhas on the horizon. They are 10 kilometers away from the central sprint but the 13 riders will advance most points. Sagan and others will fight for only 2 and 1 points for 14th and 15th place on the line.

Poor Pogakar was initially quizzed today for revenge.

“You’re asking me for a third-person revenge,” he told Eurosport.

“Yesterday I lost a lot of hard work but the team did a good job. It’s racing and it’s cycling. Today is a tough stage and we keep fighting. Today we will try our best.”

After losing time yesterday, a number of riders are scratching their wounds in the peloton.

Mikel Landanda (Bahrain McLaren), Bauque Molema and track teammates Richie Porte, Pogacar, Dan Martin (Israel start-up Nation) and Esteban Chavez (Michelton-Scott) were on the wrong side of the gap. They lost 1:21 to their GC rivals.

Here 13 attackers are working smoothly together.

The attack has 13 riders: Benoit Cosnefroy and Nance Peters (AG2R-La Mondial), Elnur Jacqueline (CCC), Kevin Reza and Quentin Pasher (B&B Hotels-Vital Concept), Michael Morkov (Diseninik-Quick Step). Nielsen Powells (EF), Fabian Grelier and Jôrme Cousin (Total Direct Energy), Carlos Verona (Movistar), Tom Schugins (Trek-Segrafredo), Soren Krug Anderson (Sunweb) and Ben Herman (Ezra).

It will be interesting to see who emerges from this group. Zakarin is clearly the best climber in this move and is therefore a favorite for the final stage win if Pelot is let go.

Mitchellton-Scott chased Scott Te Piloton to the front and defended Adam Yates’ yellow jersey.

The rides in the peloton are now chatting as well as rolling.

The peloton is now much smoother, and the break distance is up to 4:00.

Cosnefroy is easy to find in Peloton. It is covered with polka-dots from head to toe.

130 km to go.

The peloton is lined around the road. The break has flown and it has a 2:00 lead.

This could be a great day for Zakarin and Cosnefroy.

Only 10 km. Then the pelotons are lightened and let them go.

There are rides ahead, including Elnur Jakrin (CCC) and Nielsen Powells (EF) from the USA.

That’s how everyone kicked.

KOM leader Benoit Cosnefroy is trying to join the attack with others, which could create a large and very interesting group.

Others have now joined them in trying to create an early break for the day. However the speed is higher as other riders try to join or stop this move.

We can see a real battle with attacks and chases, from the 42nd kilometer mid-sprint onwards.

Suren Krug Anderson (Sunweb) was the last to complete the Friday phase and is the first to attack today.

Race director Christian Prudhomme has made an official start outside the Caucasus and this is our first attack.

Here we go. 3-2-1. Go! The Raiders went out of their way.

At this stage the flat country roads are covered for the opening of k૨ km to the central sprint, then the mountains start from the legendary Cole du Mente, then 11 km. Porte de Belles and then Cole de Piresorde arrive, ending in Laudenville before a quick, technical descent.

Fasten your seat belt, the Tour de France and the fight for complete victory is going to be very serious.

Meanwhile, initially, the riders are equipped, they are taking off their masks and are about to rollout.

“The Pyrenees are ruthless, ruthless and atheist. Filled with affection,” says one psychologist, “as the Italian ultimate journalist Gianni Mura wrote, it clearly shows why the Pyrenees matter.

Tours, imbued with a sense of tolerance, always benefit from indifferent arbitrators like Perinez.

To understand what might happen in the Pyrenees this weekend, check out this excellent preview by Barry Ryan.

It suggests that the Pyrenean phases offer a launch nap for attacks but warns that the fight for the yellow jersey is also a game of patience.

Will the players of Primos Roglik and his jumbo-visma team continue to follow the pace, or will they make 8 stages wherever they go in the 2020 Tour de France?

Before we go, why not catch yesterday’s action. There was a lot of action, the tail / cross became bizarre from the wind and Bora attacked early on to give distance to PC Sagan’s green-jersey rivals and many GC contenders lost time.

Wow (Wow!) Van Art (Jumbo-Wisma) won the sprint finish. Enjoy our full report, results and photo gallery at the link below.

Initially the teams are getting ready for the race. With 20 minutes to roll out, it’s time to put the bidons on the race bike.

We’ll also see if Julian Elaflip can take back Adam Yates ’yellow jersey.

Today’s phase is relatively short but the pyrenees are full of big bumps.

As always, we will have all the action as overall the contenders will go head to head.

As the cyclingnews blimps, riders are signing the C-Zares before the 141-kilometer stage.

Hello there and welcome to our live coverage of the Tour de France.
