Two Israeli start-up Nation Riders advance to the break.

The break of these six men is rarely made up of star climbers, but so far they are all sticking together on this Cat 3 climb. Three minutes back to Peloton.

The discink-quickstep duo and jumbo-visma remain planted at the front of the peloton.

100 km to go.

Shortly after the start of the broken-up climb, the break route will be 100 km. Passes on the mark.

The break is now set to begin the first climb of the day, the Col du Fest (7.6 km, 5.3 per cent).

A quick video highlight of that intermediate sprint from Peloton:

103 km to go.

After jumping off Michael Marquev’s wheel, Bennett hit a 70kph in that intermediate sprint. It was a fast.

Bennett then greens the teak. He was five points behind the Slovakians but scored those points there.

Nizolo, Cockward and Trentin also got some points. Evan, Grippel, Ball – a number of rides were nowhere to be found.

Bennett takes nine points for seventh place. Teak was the sixth man on the line in Peloton after the wild effort ended. Four points for him.

Total leads to direct energy sprint. Teak sat on Bennett’s wheel.

Sam Bennett and Peter Sagan are at the front of the Piloton in anticipation of the sprint.

Polit took a break on the sprint ahead of Burgaudo and Benoit.

One point nine points below the offer fur for Peloton.

111 km to go.

Now 2 km to go to the sprint. 3:10 between the break and the peloton. There is no real change in the situation.

The first summit of the Tour de France: Power Climb – preview

While Oriers-Merlett is proud to be included in the first summit of the 2020 Tour de France on Tuesday, in a sense it doesn’t matter much if it misses this route for another two or three decades. And that’s because whatever happens today, when it comes to the sheer scale of events there in 1971, it’s very unlikely to match them.

Louis O'Connor (center) and Lucian van Impe, Grenoble, and Arsઅne-Merlett were attacked on stage 11 of the 1971 Tour de France with race leaders Jop Jotemelk and Joachim Kim Ost Gostinho.

Riders are peeling off the peloton for a nature break. No worries in the main group.

The wind isn’t much stronger though, so there’s no danger of a big split in Piloton Harry.

The wind is blowing on these flat roads and the pilot is flying in a file ahead of the high speed in one direction.

“Today is a great stage and another day for me to enjoy wearing the yellow jersey. Not to walk in this final park but I will give everything to keep the yellow jersey.

“Some choices for GC would be happy if I stay in the lead for long, but others like Adam Yates who are just four seconds down would choose to take over from me. Anyway, the end of the tour is still a long way off.”

Today will be the first big opportunity for GC favorites to make their place. Early peak finishes are usually quieter than expected, with a large group of GC men crossing the line. Will things be different today?
