‘Tosh.0’ To End With 12th Season As Comedy Central Shifts To Animation – Deadline


Tosh.0 has become Comedy Central’s latest live-action series to come to an end as the ViacomCBS network creates a hard pivot for adult animation.

The show created and hosted by cabaret artist Daniel Tosh will end after her upcoming 12th season. ViacomCBS and Tosh plan to launch the series to other networks and digital platforms.

This comes 24 hours after that was revealed Drunk History will not advance with his seventh season.

Tosh.0, which sees the ever-changing landscape on social media, is Comedy Central’s longest running weekly live action show. Including the 12th season, which begins September 15, it will reach 300 episodes, after 11 years. Last season will feature 10 episodes with its finale on November 24th.

“I’m looking forward to an animated reboot of my show on MTV in 25 years,” joked Tosh.

2019-20 TV updates and cancellations

This is a relatively quick turnaround, as the network handed the show a four-season update in January that the franchise would have taken to its 16th season with an additional 80 episodes.

Tosh.0, which is exec produced by Tosh, Charlie Siskel, Nick Malis and Christie Smith, was a breakout hit when it premiered on June 4, 2009, and managed to remain stable for the next 11 years, becoming the second largest Comedy Central show on Facebook after South Park.

Comedy Central has made a major shift towards adult animation in recent months. It has unleashed its live-action song with its only remaining original series of live-action breakouts Awkwafina Is Nora Fan Queens. Earlier this month, it moved two of its live-action titles – The Other Two en South side – to HBO Max.

The focus now is on building an original animated layer South Park. It has picked up green light again from Beavis and Butt-Head en The Ren & Stimpy Show and ordered the Daria spinoff Jodie.
