A top campaign aide for Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., Is urging his supporters on the DNC convention rules committee not to push his proposals as part of an apparent deal between the senator and the alleged Democratic candidate. Joe Biden.
Senator Jeff Weaver’s top aide told Sanders supporters in a conference call to “drop their proposals” on the superdelegates, telling them they would “go against the move” if they did, according to a report by Jordan Chariton on Thursday, the co-founder of the progressive communication medium Status Coup.
“They made a deal with the Biden campaign and that they are asking all of Bernie’s people on the committee to drop their proposals,” Weaver reportedly told Sanders supporters on the committee. “This is what Bernie wants.”
The agreement that was apparently reached between the Biden and Sanders campaigns was to extend the superdelegates’ second vote until 2024.

According to Chariton, the four proposals that Weaver urged them to drop out were that “superdelegates in the second ballot be permanent,” “eliminating superdelegates entirely,” “expanded mailing, longer voting hours, early voting. expanded “and” a proposal to move “. more states to hold primary assemblies. “
A source revealed to the progressive store that Weaver was leading a “type of bullying to convince everyone to abandon their proposals.”
Weaver confirmed to Fox News that the two campaigns “reached an agreement to continue major reforms implemented for the 2020 primaries in the future.”
SANDERS DELEGATES SIGNING PETITION TO VOTE AGAINST THE DEM PLATFORM THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE ‘MEDICARE FOR ALL’
“Those reforms included ensuring that the Democratic candidate is selected only by grassroots voters in committees and primaries, as was the case this year,” Weaver told Fox News. “Because we reached that agreement, we discourage any amendment that violates that agreement.”
Weaver added. “Senator Sanders has a long history of being a person who keeps his word. That integrity is critical to who you are as a political leader and why you are so respected across the political spectrum.”
Just three weeks before the Democratic National Convention, hundreds of Bernie Sanders delegates have vowed to vote against their party’s platform if it does not include support for “Medicare for All.”
Delegates argue that a Sanders-style single-payer healthcare system is an urgent priority amid the coronavirus pandemic and the highest unemployment rates since the Great Depression.
Nevada delegates organized the petition and nearly 500 of them, most of whom endorsed Sanders for president, have signed off, delegates told Fox News.
However, Sanders himself, I-Vt., Will vote for the platform, Fox News is told.
The petition states that “most Americans” now believe that “Medicare for All” is the best way to achieve accessible and universally accessible health care.
Sanders delegates are likely to face off against their party’s alleged nominee, Joe Biden, who opposes a single-payer system. “Medicare for All” was not included in an 80-page draft Democratic Party platform released on July 21. Instead, the platform promises to make healthcare more affordable in the Affordable Care Act markets.

Fox News confirmed the request with two Sanders delegates. Both delegates are from New Hampshire and tell Fox News that their state’s Sanders delegation has yet to decide whether to sign the pledge.
