BRISBANE – The end of the pandemic is still a long way off, but the summer festival season is already beginning to take shape in Down Under.
Tones And I, Benee, Cosmo’s Midnight and DMA’S top the bill for the Yours & Owls 2021 festival, which will take place from January 23-24 in Stuart Park, Wollongong, about a 90-minute drive south of Sydney.
Lime Cordiale, whose new album 14 Steps To A Better You, is the best-seller on Australia’s album chart this week, is also booked for the show, along with PNAU, Hockey Dad, and many more.
Yours & Owls is the template for the festival of the future or, more specifically, until a vaccine is widely available.
With rigid quarantine restrictions imposed on visitors to these parties, international events will not be on the Australian stage anytime soon. Yours & Owls sidestep this dilemma with a local lineup.
The previously announced editions of the Falls Festival and UNIFY Gathering 2021 also feature talent from Australia and New Zealand.
And the Bigsound conference and exhibition event in Brisbane, originally announced for September 1 and 4, announced plans for a two-day, two-night reduced event beginning October 21.
Yours & Owls will naturally follow COVIDSafe protocols. “The safety and well-being of our community is paramount,” says a statement from the organizers, “We will work with local health advisers until the doors are opened to ensure that the festival operates within the parameters required by January 2021.”
