Fox News staffer Tom Homan is calling on a district attorney in Oregon to resign immediately after attending and supporting hundreds of protesters Wednesday night who blocked U.S. immigration and toll officials in Bend.
Federal agents say the two men arrested were a “threat to the public,” but Deschutes County District Attorney John Hummel, who attended the protest, wrote on Twitter he is “never so disgusted with my government and so proud of my community.”

“[Hummel] would have to resign today, “Homan, a retired acting ICE director, told Fox & Friends on Thursday.
“It’s disgusting. He’s in direct conflict with his duties as district attorney to, number one, protect his community. Number two, protects law enforcement and the rule of law.”
The protest, which lasted hours after two unmarked ICE buses were blocked by hundreds in the city, which is about a three-hour drive from Portland, was just the latest episode in tensions among protesters, local police and federal agents as calls to abolish ICE raise steam.
“It’s really disgusting,” Homan host Brian Kilmeade said. “ICE helps protect that community, but look, the state of Washington, the state of Oregon has been taken over by the progressive left, and for the police department to stand there and do nothing.”

He added: “What really irritates me is the district attorney for that county … is meant to be about enforcing community protection law, enforcing the law and prosecuting criminals, that’s what ICE is doing in his province. “He should thank her, not to mention that he hates her.”
Acting Secretary of DHS Ken Cucinelli tweeted: “Legislative activity in Bend, Oregon is part of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement mission to arrest criminal aliens who pose a threat to public safety and take them off the streets . The two arrested individuals each had a history of criminal violent behavior. “
Mayor Sally Russell said she does not support ICE.
“I am very concerned for everyone in our community, and especially for our Latinx community,” Rusell tweeted. “ICE is a federal agency and frustratingly we have no power over the executive branch of our country.”
Newly sworn in Bend police chief Mike Krantz said earlier at a news conference that local police were there only to protect Protestants and did not help the ICE. Police stepped back when federal agents arrived.

In response to a clip of sen. Kamala Harris, who was elected as presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s vice president, compared ICE to the Ku Klux Klan on Capitol Hill during a hearing at the border, accusing Homan Harris of making a “racist statement.”
“Men and women of ICE are American patriots,” he explained. “They enforce laws introduced by Congress, her, a member of Congress. ICE does not make this up. Nine out of 10 people arrested by ICE are public safety threats. They have either a conviction pending or pending criminal prosecution. “They are upholding the law, protecting this country and comparing it to the KKK is ridiculous.”
