Many Twitter users have been confused after Tom Holland started trending after Nicki Minaj’s announcement that she is pregnant.
The rapper announced that she is expecting her first child with husband Kenneth Perry, and soon after, the social media site was flooded with pranks about Holland’s father.
Many jokingly began to wish the Spider-Man actor his “congratulations” on the news, prompting a user to ask, “What about these Tom Holland and Nicki Minaj memes? Have I missed something?”

While some were confused by the claims, others jumped to explain that the joke comes from a meme created in April 2019 that depicts a love triangle between Minaj, the Spider-Man actor, and YouTube star James Charles.
“It’s been a joke for years,” explained one fan, adding: “I have no idea how it started, but people started making these edits about Tom Holland and Nicki being one thing.”
The original clip, which went viral, saw a Holland fan account post fake captions on the couple expressing their love for each other through actual video clips.
Although the tweets in response to the Minaj news were clearly a joke, some people actually believed them.
“I read a tweet earlier today saying Tom Holland was the father of Nicki Minaj’s baby and I honestly believed it all day,” wrote one person.
Another added: “I looked for it and that is not true. Tom Holland is not a father and is not with Nicki Minaj. He’s dating Nadia Park.
Minaj has been married to Perry since 2019. She announced the news of her pregnancy through photos of her tummy on Instagram.
She wrote: “Love. Marriage. Baby stroller. Overflowing with emotion and gratitude. Thank you all for the good wishes.”
