The “Dancing With the Stars” ballroom will look very different for Season 29.
Tom Bergeron and co-host Erin Andrews will not return to the ABC competition series next season, with Bergeron, 65, heading out on Monday on Twitter.
“I just reported that @DancingABC will continue without me. It has been an incredible 15 years and the most unexpected gift of my career. I am grateful for that and for the lifelong friendships made. With that said, what am I supposed to do with all these glitter masks? Bergeron wrote.
Bergeon has been featured in “Dancing With the Stars” since its 2005 release. Andrews, 42, joined the show as a co-host in 2014.
Initially, Lisa Canning was the co-host for Season 1, followed by Samantha Harris, who appeared in the second season through the ninth season.
In a statement Monday, ABC and producer BBC Studios said the show “will embark on a new creative direction.”
“Tom Bergeron will always be part of the Dancing with the Stars family,” the statement said, by the deadline. “As we embark on a new creative direction, he leaves the program with our heartfelt thanks and gratitude for his characteristic wit and charm that helped make this program a success. Erin won’t be back either, and we appreciate everything she brought to the ballroom. Fans have supported her since she originally competed as a contestant in 2010, and her sense of humor has become a hallmark of the show. “
Last month, former “Bachelorette” Kaitlyn Bristowe was announced as a contestant for the upcoming season.
ABC representatives did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
