Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time may look straightforward just enough, but there are tons of depth surrounding combat, finding items and secrets, and just general exploration across all nine levels. Our list covers everything you need to know before embarking on this time travel adventure.
Tips and tricks
- You can use the Select button when you are not ready to focus the camera on your next destination, and it will guide you to where you need to go
- Do not worry about missing items or rooms, because you can select all levels and play again after completing the first
- Save everything for loot, from boxes to sharps, because there is a lot of gold and Skill Fire to catch
- Use your blocking skills against shots and some projectiles at the right time will send them back to the enemy
- Floating loot like Skill Fire is not always picked up automatically as you go through it, so always turn around and double check so you do not miss anything
- Weapon repair is not expensive at all, so do regular inspections when you visit the Da Samurai store
- It is easy to get attached to weapons and prevent them from being used at the “right moment” to do so, especially since they all have a certain durability, but they are very useful and you should definitely use them if you continue the story – there are always new ones waiting for you in chests, puzzle rooms, or the Da Samurai shop
- The same goes for health items, do not underestimate their use – moreover, there will be a point where your inventory will be full, so there is really no reason for you to save them
- Once you unlock Beads, make sure you invest in them, as they can be really useful in the later levels, whether giving you a boost to health, defense or general damage. Just keep in mind that Jack can only equip one at a time
- Levels seem straightforward, but there are always small nooks and crannies with chests, Aku statues that open doors or secret rooms, or just looting. Before you always aim above and sideways for them before driving to a door or a new area
- Combat feels initially bone-chilling, but there are more opportunities for Jack to hide in the Skill Trees, such as deflected attacks, time delay to a perfect dodge, and parries. This also applies to combo lists for each attack, but some of them will require you to upgrade the weapon group first to unlock them
- You will not be able to maximize your skills during your first playthrough, so do not worry about it – just focus on getting the ones that sound more appealing to your playstyle
- At some point, you will see walls or doors that have cracks, but shooting an arrow will do nothing. This is because you will need explosive arrows, which will not be available until mid-game and beyond
