Apple CEO Tim Cook said company employees can continue to work from home until early 2021.
Cook laid out the company’s plans to extend its work-from-home policy in an interview Thursday with Bloomberg.
“Going beyond that would depend on success with a vaccine, success with therapy,” and other factors, Cook told the media. The CEO also compared the plans to reopen offices with the company’s strategy to reopen its retail stores. He said the “accordion” process would allow the company to reopen and re-close offices as needed, according to the updated data.
In late May, Apple reportedly began asking employees to start returning to work that month and through June, with even more expected to return to the office in July.
Cook’s comment comes days after news broke about Google’s intention to extend its work-from-home policy until the summer of 2021. None of the companies got as far as Square and Twitter, which announced they are allowing employees work remotely if They choose.
