TikTok star Siya Kakkar dies of suicide at age 16: reports


TikTok star Siya Kakkar, who rose to fame on the app for her artistic and dancing talents, died of suicide. She was reportedly 16 years old.

Delhi police told local media India Today that Kakkar died on Thursday at his residence in New Delhi, India.

“Siya died of suicide at his residence in New Delhi around 9 p.m. on June 25. He lived with his family. His family is in shock and has asked for privacy. No suicide note has been recovered.” authorities said to the media.

Police confirmed that they are now investigating the reason for Kakkar’s death and are working with his family to access his phone.

The police department also told the store that they had learned that Kakkarr was fighting depression in the four days leading up to his death.

Kakkar was reportedly home for the past few weeks during the coronavirus blockade. His latest videos were filmed there, according to reports.

Kakkar’s death was also confirmed by his talent manager, Arjun Sarin, who called the teenager “brilliant talent.”

He struggled to find reasons why she killed herself as she had spoken to him the night before and said “it sounded normal.”

“This must be because of something personal … when it came to work, she was fine,” Sarin said.

A photographer named Viral Bhayani also reacted to the news in an Instagram post.
