Thursday UI positivity

UI’s seven-day positivity has been kept at 0.4 per cent on the seventh day.

Of the 10,354 new tests, 32 new campus cases occurred on Wednesday, with a daily rate of 0.3 percent, according to figures updated Thursday.

Aug Gust. Since class 24, 2,136 unique cases of COVID-19 have been reported on campus.

There have been 2,418 cases since August 16, when the move began.

The number of confirmed cases in Douglas County rose to 332 on Thursday.

According to data from the Illinois Department of Corrections, all 10 staff members at the Danville Correctional Center who tested positive for COVID-19 have recovered.

State prisons have included the toughest facilities during the epidemic. According to IDOC, total:

– Prisoners: 1,816 cases, 1,319 recovered

– Staff: 851 cases, 711 cases recovered




Vermilion on Thursday

In his 70s, a man became the fifth Sindur County resident to die after testing positive for COVID-19.

“Our thoughts and prayers reach his family, and others are also affected by the disease,” County Health Administrator Dug Toole said Thursday afternoon.

The county also reported 31 newly confirmed cases, bringing the total to 73,232. Seven of the new cases are linked to previously reported positive tests, Tule said.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate jumped from 7.8 percent to 8.2 overnight.


The University of Illinois has canceled study abroad for the spring semester, according to Ben Zigterman of NG.

The UI’s Office of International Safety and Security said the university was exploring ways to resume studies abroad, adding that “the rate of COVID-19 transmission and persistent inaccuracies indicate that it is not appropriate to resume studies abroad.”

“This was not the desired result and university staff share the frustrations of our students,” the office said on its website.

No waivers or exceptions will be made for the spring semester, and the UIA warned that those who still prefer to study abroad will have “no university connection or support.”




County positivity on Thursday




The CU Public Health District announced Thursday that a 22nd Champion County resident has died of CWID-19.

Julie Pride, CUPHD’s administrator, said another woman in her sixties was involved in another coronavirus-related death in two days in the county.

Meanwhile, of the 6,304 new tests in Champion County, 56 returned positive on Thursday, at a rate of 0.9 percent.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate (0.5 percent) remained the same, while the number of hospitalized residents in COVID-19 dropped by two to five.

Active cases increased from 22 to 383, while recovered cases increased to 33, 4,388.

Epidemic average: 532,843 trials and 4,793 confirmed cases.
