The city of Urbana announced Thursday that it has expanded its emergency order banning large parties from applying to all private residences in the city, including single-family homes.

The order was previously only applied to the campus of the University of Illinois and all apartments nationwide.

Municipal officials said the order is intended to address the increased risk of COVID-19 spread.

Social gatherings are limited to 10 people, the hosts do not count, and face covering is required.

The order expires September 28.
