Thrifty Jim Bob Duggar can’t believe Jinger Duggar has spent $ 300 on a jacket

Has Jinger Duggar forgotten about the famous and cheap ways of his family? It certainly seems so. In the July 14 episode of Counting on, the 26-year-old mother and older sister Jana Duggar enjoy a shopping trip in Beverly Hills. The boutique they visit is a far cry from the Arkansas thrift stores where Duggar girls shop when they are growing up.

In the episode, Jana travels to California to spend a pleasant time with her little sister. The avant-garde Jinger decides that the two should go shopping on Rodeo Drive, where they stop at Boulmiche. The fashion boutique may seem familiar to some viewers – it’s where Vivian (Julia Roberts) is scorned by the girls at the snobby shop in Pretty Womanalthough the store moved to another location.

Jinger and Jana screeched and smoked from the clothing shelves, although the high prices surprised Jana. But Jinger quickly found a number of items he loved, including a plaid blazer. Although the jacket came with a price tag of $ 300, she felt it was worth it.

“This one fits as if it were custom made for me,” Jinger told the saleswoman, who was much friendlier than the ones seen in Pretty Woman. “This will make Jeremy so happy,” he added.

“The jacket may have been a bit expensive, but I had been looking for a jacket like this for a long time. I knew it would be of quality and would last forever, “he added.

The rest of the Duggars react to Jinger’s big purchase.

While Jinger felt that the stylish jacket was a must-have wardrobe, some of her family members were surprised by her purchase.

Mom Michelle Duggar, who coined the family motto “Buy Used and Save the Difference,” reacted with one word: “Whoa.”

“I have never spent $ 300 on an item of clothing,” said his father Jim Bob. “It must be a nice jacket.”

Jana didn’t end up buying anything from the store, but said she understood why Jinger decided to splurge. “I think if you’re going to use it every day and have it for years to come, then it’s probably worth it,” he said.

The style of the Duggars has evolved over the years.

In the episode, Jinger and Jana also reflected on how their style has changed over the years. When the older girls were younger, the family shopped at thrift stores to save money or wore homemade clothes. Her outfits always adhered to modest family standards. But as Jana, Jinger, and the others have aged, they have adopted their own style.

“Looking back at our old photos and how we dress, oh my word,” says Jana.

“We started with the prairie home dresses,” adds Jinger. “We have been through that.”

The Duggar girls could have updated their looks, but at least one hasn’t given up on the cost-conscious habits she learned when she was young.

“I’ve branched out to buy a few new items here and there,” says Jana. “But it is difficult because it is much more expensive. I really don’t like to play around much for clothes. “
