Three sent to hospital after Terre Haute police chase ends in two-vehicle accident


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A police chase Tuesday morning in Terre Haute ended in an accident and three in hospital.

It started around 11:15 when Terre Haute police said they tried to stop a vehicle in Hulman between 46 and Fruitridge. According to police, that driver was going over 70 miles per hour.

Police later identified the driver as Joshua Steele.

When the officers caught up to Steele, he allegedly fled.

Police say the chase ended when he collided with another vehicle on Fruitridge and Margaret Avenue.

Steele allegedly escaped on foot, before being caught by a K9 police unit.

Two people in the vehicle in which Steele allegedly collided were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Steele was charged with a felony against the police, misdemeanor against the police, driving while suspended, leaving the scene of a car accident, false information, possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
