Three people were shot and killed in less than three hours on Wednesday night – as an outbreak of gun violence in New York City showed no resistance.
The first fatal shooting Mar 75 at night in a flatbush outside Martens Street: 45 :: 45. Earlier in the day, a 20-year-old man was shot in the face, police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was rushed to Kings County Hospital by friends, but died shortly afterwards, according to police.
Moments later, inside Amsterdam homes on the Upper West Side, the 44-year-old was shot several times, police said.
Cedric Bennett was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital, but could not be rescued.
Less than two hours later, a stranger was found with multiple gunshot wounds at Weston 175 Street and St. Nicholas Avenue in Washington Heights, police said.
According to police, EMSA moved the man to NYC Health & Hospitals / Harlem, where he died.
The trio of fatal shootings closed the second bloody day with seven shootings and seven victims in the Big Apple Moment.
On the same day in 2019, police noted one more shooting and four more victims – but last year was Labor Day on September 2, historically one of the most violent days of the year in the city.
