Three people were killed and three others were injured when a man opened fire at a bowling alley in Rockford, Illinois, on Saturday night, police said.
One suspect was in police custody Tweeted. Among those injured were teenagers, Rockford Police Chief Daniel G. O’Cia said, without further details available.
One motive was unknown, but O’Sia said, “We believe it’s random.”
The chief insisted that investigators were still trying to determine what happened to Don Carter’s lens. The shooting took place both inside and outside the building, police said.
It is not clear why people were on the scene, which was considered closed under epidemic controls. State rules say, “Bowling alleys should be closed.”
Don Carter Lens includes a meal called Shooter Bar and Grill. Illinois bans say temperatures in Rockford late Saturday night could serve bars and restaurants outside from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.
Police reported the incident to N.C. “Active Shooter Investigation,” And O’Shea said the situation was under control late in the evening.
“We believe we have it right now,” he said.
He said all three survivors were being treated for injuries, although their condition was not available.
