This PlayStation DVR-D-Japan is not coming back to Japan, and it will get PS5 support

While Micro .ft lists live TV listings in the Oneboyd for Xbox One, a previous Sony effort that brought live TV and DVR features to the PlayStation is making a comeback. In 2010, Sony launched a live TV tuner called the Torn for the PS3, and eventually followed NASN, a commbo device that mixed the tuner with support for built-in hard drives and streaming media. Eventually PS4 was also supported, but it died nonetheless.

Buffalo

Now Engadget Japan informs us that Nass is back, now made by a different company Buffalo but with the same dreams of serving as a headless DVR unit that pulls in TV streams to watch on your PlayStation console or mobile device. The product page shows that in addition to the built-in storage, it is now able to support external storage up to 6TB, and you can combine multiple units to record more than one channel.

The pre-order page is live on Amazon Japan, where it will cost 29,800 yen (3,273) for a unit with 2TB of storage, and yes, the PS5-ready app is coming by the end of the year. The new software will do nothing for the design that is still built to match the PS3, but what’s wrong with the throwback?
