‘This is not the country I grew up in,’ says the wife of a Canadian pastor in prison

Pastor James Coates was arrested in Canada for conducting church service against coronavirus rules and his wife, Erin Coates, is now speaking out against the country’s injustices.

“It’s definitely not the nation I grew up in,” he told Tucker Carlson Tonight on Thursday. “For a while, I felt like our freedoms were just slowly being taken away from us, and slowly over time we didn’t even realize it.”

Coates said her husband, a pastor who “gave his life to sacrifice and love others”, was not shocked by being behind bars, explaining how Canadians are becoming indifferent to their deprived liberties.

“We are on a dangerous road right now,” he said. “And I think it’s because we’ve been in this boiling, messing around for so long that people don’t really understand the danger we’re facing as a nation.”

As authorities choose to take action for disobeying epidemic orders internationally, the pastor’s wife said she believes her husband was expelled by an “enemy” who is against the Christian faith.

“Yes, we have a complete, real enemy and they use those people to target God’s ministers.” “We know that through scripture; we know that through the history of the church. And so I really believe they are being targeted in our country.”

James Coates was denied bail but is reportedly due to be released in the near future, still facing at least one charge. His wife reported that he had been having a hard time in prison.

He said, “He likes people he doesn’t like, he’s not able to challenge his own mind, he’s not able to serve people the way he can.” “This is hard on him.”
