It’s a discount of more than ten thousand dollars for a basically new car that will surely be a collectible someday in the not-too-distant future. It even has the best 20-spoke wheels. And verify that Blackwing in the engine bay says whatever it wants about Cadillac’s penchant for lowering costs, but that metal cover looks like business. Thank you, Kathy Walker, one of six GM workers certified to build the Blackwing.
And since it is a CT6-V, it has 50 horsepower more than platinum CT6. That adds to a massive 640 lb-ft of torque that will propel you to pass more pedestrian vehicles on the road. The sprint at 60 mph is also less than the pedestrian, and takes place in just 3.8 seconds.
Other impressive performance feats, such as a 9.1-second 0-100 and 12.2-second quarter-mile are accomplished despite the CT6-V’s heavy curb weight of 4,471 pounds. And while that may sound like a lot, and it is, it’s lighter than any other V8-equipped sedan in its segment, including the ‘carbon-core’ BMW 7 Series. That relative light weight lets you keep 0.90g on the skidpad.
Combine those impressive specs with GM’s 10-speed automatic, plus a little AWD for all-season usability, and there’s only one problem with this car: color (which isn’t black). The engine is called Blackwing, it’s a massive Cadillac that insists you get out of its way, and it’s not black. That just doesn’t seem right to me.
But then again, a $ 10,000 discount is a $ 10,000 discount.
