A trio of ABC pilots received bad news on Monday: thirty-something (more), girlfriends and Valley garbage TVLine has learned that it will not advance online.
thirty-something (more) would have served as a sequel to the 1987 Alphabet Net drama thirties, with creators of the original series Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick back to write and direct. With a cast that included Supergirl alumni Chris Wood and Odette Annable, PariahPatrick Fugit and We are‘Auden Thornton, as well as several stars from the original show, the potential series planned to follow adult versions of the thirties children.
Vampire soap Girlfriends, described as a contemporary reinvention of Dracula, starring Gina Torres (Suits), Katherine Reis (Claws) and Erin Richards (Gotham) as the titular immortal women, unraveling the things they would do to maintain wealth, prestige, and their non-traditional family.
Completing the Ax Pilots is a unique camera comedy Valley garbage, starring Jason Lee (My name is earl) and Lulu Wilson (The Hill House Chase) The show would have followed the Harmans, a lanky, blue-necked family experiencing a major culture shock when their 14-year-old daughter enters a prestigious private high school.
As for the projects that They are Going forward, ABC has announced its intention to shoot the following pilots once production can safely begin amid the coronavirus pandemic: the Katey Sagal drama Rebeldramatic drama Harlem’s kitchen and comedies Bossy (fka Children matter now), Domestic economy and Work wife. Three more potential series – criminal drama National Park Servicemedical drama Triage and single camera comedy Adopted – they are moving into a second development cycle, which means there are no immediate plans to film those pilots (but they have not been ruled out).
Finally, the network has yet to make decisions about Perspective, a western comedy about a young woman who moves to the border to be a school teacher; Destruction, a drama about survivors of a plane crash; and Wild boy, a unique camera comedy described as a “love story with a twist”.
