Third practice: Chiefs CB Alex Brown tears ACL; probably out for season

The Kansas City Chiefs returned to the training ground on Sunday. It was the third of 14 refurbished exercises they will practice during training camp at the team’s facility on the grounds of the Truman Sports Complex.

After the practice, Chiefs head coach Andy Reid confirmed earlier reports that reserve fullback Alex Brown has suffered a torn ACL. The second-year promotion corner – which started in last season’s practice group but had made it to the active roster through the Super Bowl – will likely miss the season. Reid also said rookie cornerback Lavert Hill missed the practice with a stressed hamstring.

Left tackle Eric Fisher ran off the practice field with an injury. Mike Remmers took his place on the first team (fia The Athletic). Reid said Fisher is now in concussion protocol.

Broad receiver Sammy Watkins missed the practice; Reid reported that he has a tight body. Defensive tackle Chris Jones, cornerback Antonio Hamilton and tight end Deon Yelder – all also nursing injuries – missed another day of practice. Broad receiver Byron Pringle missed practice again with a knee injury. Defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi missed a third day of practice. Reid revealed he has an ankle injury.

Although he was adjusted, rookie running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire had no reps during Sunday’s session. Reid said he was just dehydrated, so they held him back. Darrel Williams finished while running with the first team (fia ESPN).

Cornerback BoPete Keyes as op the field – although he officially remains on the list of physically-not-to-perfume (fia track and field). Security guard Juan Thornhill and attacking lineman Martinas Rankin are also still at PUP. Still practicing on Sunday.

Linebacker Darius Harris had another excuse absent from practice.
