Heavy to severe rains and storms are expected in New England on Monday afternoon, and could bring damaging winds and torrential rains in some areas, and even potentially some flash floods, meteorologists from the National Weather Service said today.
An agency simulation model that was tweeted shortly before noon shows storms moving over eastern Massachusetts, including the Boston area, from this afternoon to night.

The local branch of the meteorological service in northern Massachusetts showed a simulation that predicted that parts of New Hampshire and Maine would also see storms during the afternoon and night, especially from 1 pm to 7 pm, and warned of “damaging winds and heavy rains ” “

Shortly after 12 p.m. M., The Boston Area Weather Service said it was raining in southern New England, and tweeted a map showing the rain hitting parts of eastern Massachusetts and northeast Rhode Island, including the Brockton, Taunton areas. , Franklin and Providence. .

At 1:20 pm, meteorologists tweeted that storms were moving toward the Springfield area. (Around 2 PM, drizzles started hitting the Boston area.)

The meteorological service also predicted that rainfall totals would be higher in the eastern and central parts of the state, as well as towards New Hampshire.
And while no immediate alerts or warnings were issued for eastern or central continental Massachusetts, the meteorological service issued a maritime statement shortly before 2 p.m. east of Ipswich Bay, and advises boaters to land.
“Expect gusting winds at around 30 knots,” the agency said, as well as “brief storm surges and lightning.”
The weather service also tweeted around 2:30 p.m. that storms hit the North Shore area and warned of gusts of wind up to 40 miles per hour, torrential rain, lightning and hail the size of a pea.

Around 2:45 p.m., the weather service also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeast Massachusetts, including Amesbury, Newburyport, and Danvers.
A flash flood warning was also issued for the area until 6:30 pm
