There’s now a Dolly Parton mural in Nashville honoring her position on black life issues

Dolly Parton’s viral statement about Black Lives Matter from her present Billboard cover story is now painted next to a mural of the country legend in Nashville.

Nashville-based artist Kim Radford painted a flourishing image of Parton outside The 5 Spot, a famous music hall in East Nashville, with which she began last Thursday (August 13). Then she read the country singer’s cover interview Billboard last Friday (August 14), where Parton proudly proclaimed her support for Black Lives Matter with this standout quote: “And of course Black lives life. Do we think our little white eggs are the only ones who matter? No! “

“The day before I finished the mural, Dolly had a great press release about her upcoming Christmas album and her interview with Billboard. When I painted the last posts, I knew her sassy loving quote – ‘Of course, black life matters. Do we think our little white eggs are the only ones that matter? ‘- would be a perfect finish to send out in my neighborhood,’ ‘Radford said CNN in an interview today (Aug. 17).

She described the last-minute addition to her Music City neighborhood “passion project” as a “happy accident.” But she always intended to choose The 5 Spot for the location of the mural because of its proximity to Radford’s own neighborhood and its legacy as a place where many Nashville transplants specifically strive for a musical career after their first appearance. .

“It’s a magical little dive bar and Dolly adds the mojo that this neighborhood needed,” the muralist said CNN.
