Karl Urban was already part of the new Star Trek franchise created by the director JJ Abrams. But that didn’t stop him from appearing in the Star Wars universe. While doing advertising rounds for the Amazon series Boys, he Dredd star opened up on a secret cameo he made in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but you won’t see his face when you see him.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Karl Urban revealed that he dressed as a first-rate Stormtrooper for the latest installment of The Skywalker Saga. Urban said:
“I was lucky enough to go visit JJ Abrams while filming The Rise of Skywalker. While I was there, he put me in a Stormtrooper uniform and we had a really fun day on set. It has been one of my lifelong goals to be a Stormtrooper, so I can mark that now. ”
It always amazes me to hear that people dreamed of being Stormtroopers when they were at the lowest end of the Empire’s ranks. Sure, the uniform is iconic at this point, but no one can see your face, and you are unlikely to have lines. But I guess just being on Star Wars it’s pretty good. However, it makes it difficult to be seen. Fortunately, Urban also revealed exactly where it appears in Skywalker’s rise.
Our first introduction to the Knights of Ren comes when a pair of Stormtroopers pass in the halls of a Star Destroyer. One of them identifies the group for the audience by saying, “Knights of Ren,” while the other continues by saying, “Ghouls.” Karl Urban is the Stormtrooper who identifies the Knights of Ren, and that’s actually his voice too.
There are probably many more cameos in Skywalker’s rise that we haven’t heard yet. Each interviewer should ask every celebrity out there whether or not they have made a Star Wars cameo so we can get a complete list of who appeared in these movies. We already have a good set of names that appeared in the final chapter of The Skywalker Saga, but we need the full list. It could be the only key to stopping child disputes between Star Wars amateurs.
