JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 20-year-old woman was shot dead in Normandy Park Monday morning, according to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue. Homeside detectives said the victim’s body was found between a parking lot on Lindsay Road and an athletic area on Greek Road, just after 10 a.m. when the shooting was reported.

Witnesses told police that only one shot was fired after the argument. A man matching the gunman’s description was detained about a mile away on Faurker Road. There was a weapon and other evidence between where the victim was found and the subject was taken into custody.

Investigators said a car was searched in the parking lot and would be prosecuted. Police said there were no children in the park at the time of the shooting.

“A pop and then JSO came to that location,” Macmillan said. “They have done an excellent job and they continue to do so.”

They were witnesses like Macmillan who let the police quickly find a curious person.
