The Victoria State of Australia has reported the deadliest day of the coronavirus pandemic since the outbreak began, while daily infections on the hot spot fell to its lowest number in weeks.
The state of Victoria, where the capital Melbourne has been hit by a second wave of viruses, recorded 19 new deaths on Monday, with 14 of the deaths linked to outbreaks at elderly care facilities. While daily deaths occurred there, the state saw its lowest number of confirmed COVID-19 infections since July 29, reporting 322 new cases.

The latest figures do not include new infections and deaths from other Australian states, although Victoria has held the last majority of both responsible in recent weeks.
Melbourne went into a second lockdown over a month ago.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said the data showing that things were stabilizing in Victoria had now made him more hopeful than he had been again in the past week.
But state Attorney Daniel Andrews warned that not too much could be read into a value of one-day data, and that some of the state’s most stringent measures were in effect only around midnight Sunday.
The outbreak in Melbourne accounts for 70% of Australia’s total infections, reports the BBC. More than 100 deaths were recorded in Victoria in the past week.
