The UK makes the threat level ‘serious’ after the European invasion

LONDON – Britain raised its terror threat level to “serious” on Tuesday in the wake of recent attacks in Austria and France.

Fear level of fear i.e. the likelihood of an attack in the United Kingdom is highly considered. The level was previously at “significant”, meaning an attack is likely.

Decision declared by Home Secretary Preeti Patel A man who had earlier tried to join the Islamic State group stormed the center of the Austrian capital Vienna on Monday night, killing four people before police shot and killed him.

“We have already taken significant steps to improve our capabilities and strengthen our tools to counter the growing terrorist threat,” Patel said in a statement. “That process will continue, and the British public should have no doubt that we will do our utmost to protect our national security.”

Patel said the heightened security alert was “a precautionary measure and is not based on any specific threat.”

The UK Government’s Joint Terrorism Analysis Center, established in June 2003, determines the level of terrorism.

The center evaluates intelligence on domestic and foreign international terrorism and determines the level of threat and warns of threats and other terrorist-related information.

Neil Basu, the UK’s chief assistant commissioner for counter-terrorism policing, said that despite the European attacks and the lack of intelligence links between the UK, the anti-terrorism police would “provide help wherever we can.”
