The U.S. reports more than 60,000 new COVID-19 cases

The wife of a Transportation Security Administration worker who died due to CWID-19 complications is speaking for the first time.

Gerald “Teddy” Girard, 67, died last week. Years 1 year old wife, Terra Giard said it was the beginning of the month when she says she doesn’t feel well. Two days later, Teddy’s condition worsened, CBS Minnesota reports.

“It took a total of nine days for the bad symptoms to develop. It was nine days until he died,” Tera said.

Her husband, who was born with a kidney, had diabetes and high blood pressure. Terra says both were under investigation as he lost weight. But he insisted on still working on his 13-year job as a security and baggage screener at the MSP airport.

“The problem with TSA is that you can’t distance yourself socially.”

Terra can’t tell for sure how her family got infected. He tested positive for the Covid-19 as soon as he arrived at the hospital and for a few days, Terra was kept away, only allowed a few hours for the final goodbye.

“I just wanted to go in and grab his hand. I couldn’t do that either,” Terra said.

She’s fed up with how the political epidemic has turned out, and the lack of masks she wears. Terra hopes the story of husband, father and grandfather reminds her of what real meaning can mean.

“We were going to grow old together. We had to have our 50th wedding anniversary, and we were supposed to be one of those cute, young old couples who still hold hands and walk around the street,” Tera said. “People have to take this seriously.”

Teddy Giard is the second TSA officer to die due to COVID-19 complications. Last month, the agency announced that the 55-year-old Air Marshal had also died. A total of 19 TSA workers of the MSP have contracted the virus. Eleven people worked as screeners.
