One of the Buckeyes’ top 2021 recruits, defensive end Tunmise Adeleye, was fired. Adeleye posted the news on his Twitter account Tuesday.
“First and foremost, I want to thank Coach Johnson and the rest of the Ohio State staff for being one of their own since the day I met,” Adeleye said on his Twitter account. “Ohio State has always been a dream of mine and I can not thank the staff enough for believing in my capabilities and rewarding me with a scholarship offer. The experience has been nothing but a good one and I have nothing but love for coach Johnson at my end. However, with that said, I think it’s best for me to commit to Ohio right now.The decision to attend a university is a life-changing one and I believe it’s in my best interest to sit back and evaluate all available options carefully. “
Adeleye visited Florida March 7, but had to visit Alabama March 26-28, Ohio State April 11 and Texas A&M canceled on April 18 due to the NCAA’s extended death period.
“I think this thing solves the same schools I want to beat,” Adeleye said at the time.
Adeleye then joined the Buckeyes. He has been dedicated to Ohio State since April 15. This news comes a day after Adeleye told 247Sports Texas A&M insider Brian Perroni that he felt very good about his commitment to the Buckeyes.
“Right now, I’m happy with my commitment to Ohio State,” Adeleye said on Sunday night when asked about the locations of other schools. “But, you know how recruiting can go one way or another way. But I’m wise with Ohio State, for sure.”
If official visits were allowed for the 2021 class, Adeleye was not sure if he would take one anywhere like Columbus.
“I doubt there will be,” Adeleye told Perroni on Sunday night. “But if we can, I do not think I will use them. If it were right now, my only official would be to Ohio State. That could change, but that’s where I am at the moment.”
The 6-foot-3 and 260-pound Adeleye made his first visit to Ohio State during the Buckeyes’ hefty quarter June 21, 2019.
Adeleye is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the total prospect of the country, the no. 4-defensive end, and the no. 8-prospect in Florida.
But even with the dismissal of Adeleye, the Buckeyes continue to have the No. 1 class in the 2021 247Sports Composite team that wins rankings. The Buckeyes now have 18 promises for 298.52 points for Alabama’s 16 promises for 280.75 points. The top three is currently closed by No. 3 Clemson and her 15 current commitments for 267.02 points.
The Buckeyes have a 5-star defensive end commitment Jack Sawyer who is the number 3 prospect for the country. Ohio State is currently the Crystal Ball leader for the overall view of country no. 2 JT Tuimoloau.
