The Tigers send 19 players to Toledo; more cuts to come this week

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers sent 19 players to their satellite campus in Toledo, narrowing their major league roster on the last day of summer camp.

The Tigers now have 37 players with the Major League Baseball and are due to finalize a roster of 30 players by Thursday.

Players sent to Toledo include top prospects Casey Mize and Matt Manning, and recent draft picks Spencer Torkelson, Dillon Dingler and Riley Greene.

The Tigers also reassigned or opted: receivers Jake Rogers, Eric Haase and Brady Policelli; infielders Sergio Alcantara, Isaac Paredes and Frank Schwindel; outfielder Travis Demeritte; right-handed pitchers Franklin Pérez, Nolan Blackwood, Alex Faedo, Zack Hess and Alex Lange; and left-handed pitcher Héctor Santiago.

Neither move was a big surprise, although Santiago was an uninvited veteran of the roster who was considered a possible bullpen option.

Demeritte was also a candidate for the final bench before suffering an injury and missing much of summer camp.
