The team that is taking us through quarantine

And eventually, what I want to do is automate all of that. So I have a relaxation scene, or a relaxation routine, that I don’t need to activate. It will just go at bedtime. But, turning my room into this kind of dream oasis that I can enter and immediately feel sleepy is my thing. I’m really here, that’s why.

MC: So do you make this scene happen with a tap on your smartphone or do you use a voice command?

Ah: With a tap on my smartphone. You could use a voice command, we are a Google assistant, but Google listens a lot. And listen a lot, when I’m not talking to that. Therefore, I don’t want to risk voice commands at the moment.

MC: And also, I have to ask. What is the temperature setting you are looking for when you sleep?

Ah: Ooh Oh, this is controversial.

MC: Yes

Ah: 65 degrees.

MC: My man.

Ah: Yes I really like the cold.

MC: Yes Cold dead ass.

Ah: Absolutely

MC: It is the only one, it is the right temperature to sleep.

Ah: No, if the temperature is above 70 something in my room, I can’t sleep. I’m starting to pull and spin, and I’ll throw the blankets.

HOW: What I need is a lock screen on my computer, or on my phone or something. Because my big problem with going to sleep is logging into Facebook or Twitter, or something like that. And then read one thing at 11:30 pm, which completely infuriated me, and then hang around my house for the next three hours. I’m going to say, “Can you believe what this high school person said?” That is if. I think the new Apple Watch has a lock setting that will simply prevent you from using your devices after a certain time. So I think that would be what I want, to help me sleep. But I still don’t know if it’s out there.

MC: There’s also that thing, what’s it called? Oh yeah. Discipline.

HOW: It’s right there, Mike. The phone is right there.

MC: Well, why don’t you give us the trick of your life, Adrienne?

HOW: OK. My life hack was, meal planning. And I also went out and bought a thing. So we were in a pretty strict lock, for about a month. There were four of us, my husband and my two children. And my children eat five times a day. And we were trying not to go to the supermarket more than once a week, and it was turning into a big mess.

So, about a week after the start of the lockout, I bought two whiteboards and I have a whiteboard, right now, for my shopping list. And another white board, where I trace every meal per day, per week. So I have to write it all down, and that way, I can make sure I have everything I need throughout the week to feed everyone in my house.

I’ve also been experimenting with a couple of different meal planning apps, like eMeals and Mealime, that helped you put all of this on your phone. But the website that I like right now is called Eat Your Books. I think it was reviewed by one of our other writers, Joe Ray, and basically, put each of his three million cookbooks on a website. And then you can search by ingredient or recipe, and just pull out the recipe you were thinking of. Because I always get Epicurious chicken drumsticks, compared to other mixed chicken drumstick recipes. And having them all in one place to search, when I need to cook dinner, has been a great help. And, if I don’t hate all the food at the end of this, that will be my greatest success at the end of this pandemic, because food is a pain right now.
