Moving to the US was a big decision for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who were just starting to take root in their Windsor home in the UK, Frogmore Cottage. But as it became clear, they did not want the future that lay ahead – working as full-time royals with all the privacy invasion that comes with it – becoming a movement across the Atlantic the most appealing option.

But with the move comes the abandonment of the friends and family you love, and it looks like Meghan and Harry will miss the company of that particular royal couple. While having close relationships with various members of the royal family, a newly released biography written about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Finding Freedom, appears, that they have a special bond with Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

“Eugenie had always been more than just a cousin of Harry. They were also the closest to friends,” read the book, written by royal correspondents Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. “Of all the Queen’s grandchildren, Harry and Eugenie have one of the most natural connections. Like Harry, Eugenie is loyal, honest and extremely fun,” the authors revealed.

Harry and Eugenie hung out at London clubs in their young years, but as the couple grew up and found themselves in serious, long-term relationships, they remained close and became friendly with each other’s partners. Princess Eugenie was actually one of the first people to tell Prince Harry about his flourishing relationship with then-Suits actress Meghan Markle.

“Harry had always trusted his cousin when it came to women in his life. Not only did he trust her implicitly, but friends said she gave great advice and was’ out of her mind ‘for years,” says the biographer, who’ t is not officially authorized by Meghan and Harry, but was investigated using “extensive access to those closest to the couple.”

Eugenie’s reaction to her cousin’s new girlfriend was completely positive. “She was nothing but encouraging about his new relationship. In fact, Eugenie, who had long wanted to see her cousin down and be happy, had told friends that she loved Meghan and that she was ‘just the tonic’ for him,” she said. Finding Freedom Reveals.

And so it was that the fourth became something of a group. The book describes one particular night they all went out together, on Halloween of 2016, when the Sussexes were still secretly dating. “Harry and Meghan were already on two double dates [Eugenie and Jack], “read the book, but the married couple reunited for the third time in Toronto, where Meghan lived at the time and Jack was on a business trip for tequila brand Casamigos.

It turned out to be a pretty big night that ended too early; during the masquerade party, the future duke and duchess learned that their relationship was about to be made public by a newspaper, and they went home before they broke up together.

But the relationship of the two couples has remained strong since then. And, despite Finding Freedom suggesting that Princess Eugenie was overwhelmed that Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy to the family days just before their October 2018 wedding, their friendship survived. When baby Archie was born, he received “several visits from Eugenie and Jack,” the book reveals.

Coronavirus may have kept them separate for the past 6 months, but we’m sure the couple will make transatlantic visits for those double dates as soon as it’s safe to do so.
