Fans got their first details round Black Adam on Saturday, when movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson appeared at the DC FanDome virtual convention. Among those details was a confirmation of the film’s supporting cast, which will include multiple members of the Justice Society of America – Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher. While fans were hyped about itoster, the JSA members who were not on the list – in particular Hawkgirl – were shining. According to Johnson himself, there were initial plans for Hawkgirl to be included under Black Adam’s JSA roster, but it eventually did not materialize, and opened the door for Maxine Hunkel / Cyclone to take her place.
Hawk Girl was. In our original JSA team. Unfortunately, it’s a complicated story that I will share with the fans along the way. But it opened the door to yet another great opportunity for another actress to come in and crush the role of Cyclone. I believe it all works the way it’s meant to

While Johnson’s tweet apparently does not provide the full context, some have begun to wonder that Hawkgirl and Cyclone could not have been on the JSA roster, as opposed to it being an or / or situation. May Black AdamThe premiere is still a way off, maybe we’ll finally find out why Hawkgirl was written off the team.
The DC Comics canon has had multiple iterations from Hawkgirl, who first made her debut alongside Hawkman in the pages of Flash Comics # 1. One iteration is Shiera Sanders Hall, the reincarnation of Egyptian Princess Chay-Ara, and Hawkman’s partner. During the Silver Age, the couple’s cannon was reconnected in cosmic police on the planet Thanagar, with Shiera now known as Shayera Hol. Shayera later changed her superhero moniker into Hawkwoman in the 1980s, a name she has kept for years. The current version of Hawkgirl is Kendra Saunders, a young Spanish woman who was possessed by Shiera Hall after she committed suicide. Kendra angrily embraced her as Hawkgirl reluctantly, and still holds the mantle to this day.
While Kendra has made numerous appearances in animation, she has only appeared once in live action, with Ciara Renee cast the character on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Black Adam would theoretically mark her live-action theatrical debut, after an animated version of the character appeared shortly The LEGO Batman Movie en Teen Titans Go! To the movies.
