The return of Aaron Judge to the Yankees from injury appears difficult

With all three Subway Series games scheduled for this weekend at Citi Field, it is believed that Aaron Judge will be ready to come off the injured list when the Yankees’ season begins again.

That could be Monday when the Yankees and Mets play one or two makeup games, which has been discussed.

‘That’s the thought, he should be ready. For our next game, he should be ready to go, ” said right-back Aaron Boone, who was sealed with a right calf injury.

As for second baseman DJ LeMahieu’s injury to his left thumb, Boone was upbeat.

‘I would say he does it much better than I expected at this point. I think it will be sooner rather than later. He took some dry swings for the first time [Friday] and played catch for the first time, ” Boone said. “I think the initial prognosis was two to three weeks. I think that will be an honest estimate. ”

The Yankees will work Saturday and Sunday in The Bronx, after about half of their roster was at Yankee Stadium on Friday.

“Judge and [Giancarlo] Stanton were in the fray and DJ played today and [Zack] ‘Britton and some of our boys needed treatment and pitchers who had to play catch, so we had a dozen to 15 boys,’ ‘Boone said.

Boone said Aroldis Chapman will likely be Saturday or Sunday against hitters.

Based on his history of leaving the Yankees and returning, a light stops at Yankee Stadium for Judge David Hale.

Friday, the Yankees treated the 32-year-old right-hander to the Phillies for 25-year-old right-wing Addison Russ. The Yankees named Hale on Monday for assignment. It’s the fourth time in the last three seasons that Princeton University’s product has been commissioned by the Yankees.

Russ is 15-10 with 50 saves, a 2.48 ERA in 152 ² / ₃ innings and 200 strikeouts in 126 relief appearances in three minor seasons with the Phillies. Last year, he pitched for Double-A Reading and went 5-6 with 22 saves and a 2.54 ERA in 55 games. He was with the Phillies in spring training as a non-roster guest. The Yankees added Russ to their 60-man roster and assigned him to their alternate side in Scranton.

Hale made five relief appearances for the Yankees this season, placing a 3.00 ERA in six innings with one save. In 28 games with the Yankees from 2018-20, Hale had a 3-0 record with a 2.98 ERA.
