IGN Italy says no
One of the big questions put on the PlayStation 5, which is still not responsible for a week or so before it launches, is whether it will support 1440p output. This resolution is often used by monitors, especially those refreshing at 120 Hz, and it was hoped that Sony’s next-gen console would support them.
Unfortunately, IGN Italy’s report suggests that this will not happen. The translation of the publication’s article states that the website’s editorial staff has learned “directly from Sony” that the system will not support the requested feature. This is probably surprising, even after the PS4 Pro dropped the 1440p monitor, offering an upscale 1080p image instead.
The news is sure to disappoint those thinking of playing on the 1440p screen, especially after the manufacturer Banquet raised hopes with the FAQ late last month. Were you hoping to enjoy the PS5 on a QHD monitor? Instead consider browsing our best 4K TV for PS5 guide.
