The Portland truck driver apparently shoots unconscious as unrest continues | American news

A man appeared to be becoming and becoming aware by protesters blocking away from a peaceful protest in Portland, as unrest continued in Oregon’s largest city.

Several videos published online revealed that the man was sitting in the street next to a truck he had been driving, which crashed and came to rest on a sidewalk on Sunday night, news reports reported.

People crowded around the man and he revealed that he had been stunned at least once and later stabbed in the head – knocking him flat.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries, Portland Police Sgt Kevin Allen told Oregonian / Oregon Live. The truck was towed. It was unclear what exactly led to the accident and the confrontation.

Separately, a protest that began on Sunday night, led by Letha Winston, whose son Patrick Kimmons, 27, was fatally shot by Portland police in 2018.

The group marched through the city center and landed outside the U.S. courthouse, where people were leaving flowers and candles next to a photo of Kimmons.

Demonstrations, often violent, took place in Portland more than two months after the assassination of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May. Participants broke into the Portland Police Association’s offices several times, vandalizing and setting them on fire.

During the day, a riot broke out Saturday and police used ammunition for crowd control, including smoke, to disperse a gathering outside a building of legislation.

Authorities said people threw “softball-sized” rocks, glass bottles and other objects at officers. Two policemen were treated at the hospital after being hit by rocks. Eleven people were arrested.
