The Pacers hire Raptors assistant Nate Bjorkgren as the new coach

After parting ways with Nate M. Camille after winning the first round in the playoffs, the Indiana pacers found their next head coach at the Toronto Raptors assistant Nate BJ ork Kgren. The team hired a rental officer on Tuesday afternoon, but details of the deal are unknown.

Bjorkgren has been an assistant with the Raptors since 2018 after Nick became a nurse coach in Toronto. Bijorkgrain worked with the nurse on a former G-League affiliate team previously known as Iowa Energy from 2007-2011. Since then, under coach Jeff Hornasek, he has also served as an assistant with the Phoenix Sons.

Kevin Pritchard, president of basketball operations operations, talked about the qualities that Bjર્કrkgren brought to Indiana, especially his championship experience with rappers.

“We are thrilled and excited to have Netanya as our new coach,” said Pritchard. “It was an extensive and thorough discovery, and when we came to the conclusion we felt that Nate was the right coach for us at the right time. He has winning backgrounds, experiences championship success, is innovative and his communication skills are also tremendous. We look forward to a long and successful partnership in helping all pacers move forward. “

He became a high school coach in Phoenix, Arizona and entered the G-League, where he won the championship in 2011, is an assistant to the 2019 Raptors Championship team and now has his first shot at head coaching gig. Throughout his G-League coaching career, he has compiled a 126-74 record with four different teams.

“I am honored to be the head coach of the Indiana Pacers,” Berkgren said in a team release. “I have prepared this throughout my career. I would like to thank Kevin, Chad (Buchanan), Kelly (Kraskoff), Larry Bird, Donnie Walsh and Herb and Steve Simon for this opportunity. I also thank Nick Nurse. To give me my first professional coaching job years ago. “

Nurse and Bijorkgren have a storied history as both have not only coached together through G. Jig and NBA, but have also gone head-to-head as coaches. During the 2013 D-League Championships, Jockgran’s Santa Cruz Warriors lost to the Nurse’s Rio Grand Vipers, and the game was followed by an exchange of fun between the two coaches, Bojogren said the nurse told him they were both at the next level. Coaching can stay.

“There is no reason why we can’t do this at the next level,” he said in an interview. Des Moines Register After the Raptors won the NBA Championship. “And sure enough, he’s right on a lot of things, and he was there again.”

The nurse is now back, as Bijorkgren will join him in the main coaching ranks in the NBA.

With the rent of Bijorkgren, the Pacers are hoping that the new coach in the locker room will eventually get the team on top of many first-round exit jumps in the postson zone. The Pacers lost in the first round of the NBA bubble in the first round of the playoffs, but the injuries of some key players certainly played a factor.

Along with J-Star’s Victor Oladipo and Domantas Sabonis, as well as Malcolm Brogdon, Miles Turner and TJ Warren, Bojorcran will inherit the Indiana team full of promise. This is a defensive-stout team that has not yet reached its potential, or really got a lot of time to develop any kind of chemistry, so Bijorkgren will have a chance to help create an identity for this team.
