The OnePlus 8 series gets nightscape and portrait mode in videos with OxygenOS11

OxygenOS 11 is OnePlus’ Android 11-based, fully improved software software skin, following Samsung’s One UI design philosophy to allow better stand-alone use on larger phones. After what was a relatively short beta cycle, OnePlus has decided to release a stable version of Android 11 on its latest flagships before the 8T event next week. The Xygen Xigen OS S11 update is now rolling out on the first 8 Pro and 8, while older models will have to wait a bit longer for their turn.

The OxygenOS 11 brings some big changes to the OnePlus 8 series, including the always-awaited Always Display mode, giving you many different layouts and designs to choose from. In addition, the much-requested, long-promised, dedicated quick settings make it a little easier to use Dark Mode by bringing Dark Mode to Toggle. After all, this Oxygen OS version marks a somewhat significant departure from OnePlus’ near-stock interface, which seems a little closer to Samsung’s One UI, and with first-party applications with bifurcated view and interaction areas.

Here are all the changes to the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro with OxygenOS 11, according to a changelog published simultaneously with the update:

The update weighs a little over 2.8GB for some devices and is reaching a handful of users today. Updates roll in the OnePlus phase, and if the company can’t potentially prevent the release of any major bugs, the firmware will be rolled out to a wider audience in the coming days. As always, people who are jealous of the update may pull it down as soon as possible through the Oxygen Updater.

OnePlus TT Pro, TT, Pro Pro, TT, and Nord will also get the Oxygen 111 update, but that’s exactly when it comes to air. Meanwhile, the upcoming OnePlus 8T will be pre-installed with the latest Android and Xygen XigenOS flavors.

We introduced the new UI in detail back in August; You can check out all the juicy screenshots while waiting for the update to hit your device. If you want to run it safely, you can still find a way to refresh your old OnePlus phone running Android 10, by downloading the beta version of OnePlus’s improved weather app from APK Mirror.

Nightscape and portrait mode in video

When all the interface changes in the OxygenOS11 update came to the center, two camera features slipped under the radar: Nightscape and portrait mode for videos. Nightscape is basically OnePlus’ answer to Google’s NightSite, while Portrait mode will add an artificial boke to your shots – both of which are now also available for videos. After the first OxygenOS 11 beta stock camera appeared in my app, these two features are now more comprehensive to try out your OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro.

As shown in the video above, you need to frame your subject well to convert the nightscape video to caps in 1080 at 30fps, and with video portraits, to bring out the background blur. Both of these features work equally well on the 8 and 8 Pro, although the 8 Video lacks the HDR option, which the Pro supports.
