Following the debut of new League of Legends champion Jungler Lillia on Riot Games’ flagship MOBA, it looks like we have our first official glimpse of the next Champion on the way. Riot released a new animated trailer titled ‘The Path, An Ionian Myth’, and fans are pretty sure he’s targeting the next name heading to LoL, Yone.
“Every myth carries a seed of truth. A murdered swordsman must decide whether to make peace with his past or to be consumed by it, ”scoffs the description of the animated short. This ties in directly with the story surrounding Yone, which has so far been confined to the LoL tradition, and his half brother Yasuo, one of the best League of Legends champions, and Yone’s younger half brother.
In the clip, below, we can see the lone figure awakening in a mystical, forest-like land, very reminiscent of the LoL Spirit Blossom skins and artwork we’ve seen recently emerge, before finding a nightmare vision. Two sword warriors fight, then see what appears to be a vision of one of their deaths. Its? We could ask ourselves.
He mocks whispers and sinister voices until his vision, a stone effigy of what appears to be himself, opens his eyes and says, “You could have saved them,” as a monstrous and terrifying figure appears and engages in fierce combat. Melee with the tramp. Drink.
The victorious figure changes, hits and bites during the course of their fight and apparently transforms, possibly not for the better. It ventures into the forest like a festival of some distant twinkles in the distance. Her masked head turns and the clip is cut to reveal a date that relates to the upcoming Spirit Blossom event: “Cross Over July 22”. Take a look below:
Signs that Yone might be coming to LoL have been popping up for a while. An apparent appearance of Yone Spirit Blossom was recently leaked online, and as highlighted in the LoL 10.15 patch notes, some Thresh voice files have appeared in PBE, which are numerical variants of ‘First Encounter 3D Yone Skin’.
Earlier this year, Riot announced that League of Legends will be getting two new champions at a big summer event, one of which turned out to be Lillia (whose welcome art leaked early too), and the other joked as “a masked champion. ” who refuses to die. “

Yone has yet to be officially announced as the next LoL Champion, but it seems increasingly likely that we will see Yasuo’s troublesome half-brother head to the game, possibly very soon.
