The mysterious ‘angel figure’ appeared on Mars by spacecraft

An ‘angel figure’ has appeared on the surface of Mars by the European Space Agency.

Scientists were using the Mars Express spacecraft to observe around Mars’ south pole when they discovered what looked like an ice angel formation on Earth.

Researchers may have felt the festive feeling when they pointed out that the composition seems to have a halo and two wings.

The shape of the heart is also shown on the right side of the ‘angel’.

The ESA said in a statement: “The defined wings of the angel figure, complete with a halo, are seen above and above the top of the frame in this image.”

The colors are due to the different types of sand in the area.

An enhanced color image was also published by ESA.

The angel’s left arm is said to have been pulled into the ‘sublimation pit’.

This is the thing that turns ice to steam on Mars and leaves frustration on the surface.

The ESA added: “The ‘head’ and halo form the affected crater, created by flying inside the body from space to collide with the Martian crust.”

There are also signs of surface disruption by strong wind formations known as ‘dust devils’.

The red planet is known for its gloomy surface and many people think they have discovered mysterious objects there.

A strange crater on the dusty slopes of Mars’ Pavonis Mons volcano was once chosen by two astronomers as the main destination of the outside world.

NASA says the “unusual” feature “appears to be an opening in an underground cave”.

An image of the hole was first smashed by a Mars reconnaissance orbiter in 2011, and has been studied by scientists ever since.
