The MLB’s Health and Safety Protocol for the 2021 season – Athletic



The Major League Baseball League and Major League Baseball Players Association agreed on Monday night through health and safety protocols that are the same as they were in the 2020 season, but with a few twists.

Players, just like their NFL and NBA counterparts, will wear sensors to enable clubs to monitor social distance and conduct contact tracing if any individual tests are positive. And, unlike last season, when the first COVID-19 was played during the epidemic, they would be subject to potential discipline for violations of protocol, including suspension or salary confiscation if they lost time.

Many of the changes made by the league and union for the 60-game season in 2020 will be implemented, including seven-inning doubleheaders and a new extra-inning rule.
