With this weekend’s fruitless baseball for the New York Mets and New York Yankees, a scenario has arisen that the two teams might see as playing five times the weekend of August 29th to August 31st. A three-game series between the clubs was already planned at Yankee Stadium for that weekend.
The timeline could go such a thing: a double header on Friday and / or Sunday with a single match on Saturday. It is currently unknown if any of the possible twin tickets would be on Citi Field, the site of the canceled games this weekend.
The remaining postponed game could be played on September 3 or September 14, which are reciprocal off-days.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told Peter Caldera of North Jersey.com, ‘We understand that we are ready to embark on a challenging stretch. (It) would have been nice to get one or even two of these games in (Monday), ‘which was originally an off-day for both clubs. The Yankees have not played a game since Thursday afternoon.
The Mets were shut down because of two team members, one player and one staff member, who tested positive for COVID-19 while in Miami for their recent series against the Marlins. This prompted MLB to postpone the Subway Series that began last Friday.
As it stands now on Sunday night, the Yankees will not play again until Tuesday when they visit the Braves for a two-game series. The Mets are set to open a three-game lineup against the Marlins on the same day. However, there has been no official word on when the Mets will return to action. They have not worked since they returned to New York.
This is a fluent situation and this article (and others) will be updated as soon as news presents.
