The merger of Facebook from Instagram and Messenger Chats Gets Underway

Facebook’s long-term plan to integrate chat, messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp chat platforms appeared to coincide over the weekend as Instagram users in the US were notified of a “new way to post “on the social network that shares the photo that the app merges chat feature with Facebook Messenger.

As a result of the merging of chat services, the change means that Instagram users can chat with Facebook users and vice versa. After the update is applied, some features that were previously only available on Facebook Messenger may be accessible on Instagram, including color chats, more emoji responses, and swipe-to-reply.

In addition, the regular paper airplane DM icon in the right corner of the Instagram UI is replaced by the Facebook Messenger logo, and the above mentioned Messenger features are applied.

However, like The edge notes, it is still not possible to message Facebook users from Instagram, but association is clearly the plan, as Facebook explained in January 2019.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg wants to report that all apps include end-to-end encryption, as WhatsApp does now. Once the association is completed, the services will continue as their own standalone apps, but the work of the company will make them interoperable with each other.

Finally, by putting the apps’ infrastructure together, Zuckerberg is trying to keep its billions of users high on the Facebook ecosystem, in an attempt to ward off rival text apps like Apple’s iMessage.
