The Los Angeles Dodgers will scratch Clayton Kershav from the start of Game 2

ARLINGTON, Texas – Clayton Kershaw suffered a hamstring strain from the start of his game 2 in the National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced Tuesday morning, about 6 hours before the first pitch at Globe Life Field.

Tony Gonsolin, a recruit, will start with Kershaw.

The 6-year-old Kershaw experienced a career renaissance this season, featuring a 16-ball slider and a strong fastball, while posting a 0.116 ERA, a 0.84 WIP and a 75.7575 strike-to-v ratio in 16⅓-16 innings. After losing the best-of-seven series game 1 against the Atlanta Braves on Monday night, the Dodgers were especially counting on it.

This is the first time that the issues behind it have been raised since it was scratched just hours before the start of the opening day for Kershaw. His left arm was ready by the end of his 10-day tenure on the injured list.

Gonsolin is one of the best favorites in the crowded field for the NL Rookie of the Year award, putting up a 2..31 E ARA, a 0.84 WIP and a .5..5 strike strike-to-walk ratio in 317 innings. Going into Game 2 Gonsolin means Julio Urius will probably go into Game 3. After that, it gets complicated, especially since Dustin May faced eight batters in a 5-1 defeat on Monday.
