New images from the Galaxy Watch 3 have just been leaked. And this high-resolution image really makes this smartwatch look like an attractive competitor to the upcoming Apple Watch 6.
The leak was released by Evan Blass, a leaker who has provided reliable information to smartphone and wearable device fans for many years. Although it is just an image, it gives us a very good view of the Galaxy Watch 3 from the front and the back.
Around the outside of the face, you can see a jagged bevel. This is not just for the show done with the original Galaxy Watch, as it is actually the primary navigation method in addition to the touchscreen, allowing users to scroll through an app wheel, as we’ve seen in previous leaks.
Due to this serrated bezel, we can assume that this is the largest 45mm version of the watch. Previous leaks have informed us of 45mm and 41mm face options, and the 41mm has a smooth bezel. We’ve seen a couple of images of the smaller face (see below), but hope to see similar images to this latest leak for the 41mm model in the near future.
The leather strap also stands out in this image. We would expect Samsung to offer other materials such as silicon, as well as offering users the option of using a non-Samsung strap by making the Galaxy Watch 3 fit standard watch strap sizes, as was the case with the original model.
If you zoom in on the back of the watch, you will see that the case is made of stainless steel. This is one of the two rumored options for the materials of the Galaxy Watch 3, the other is titanium.
We have heard other interesting information about the new Samsung smart watch that does not appear in this image. We are led to believe that the Galaxy Watch 3 will run on Tizen OS 5.5, the newest version of Samsung’s operating system for its portable devices, and will also be able to track a user’s blood pressure and ECG activity. We also have the specs for the clock’s internal parts: 247 mAh or 340 mAh batteries, depending on the size you choose, with 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage to run and store the watch’s applications.
So where does this leave the Apple Watch 6, due out around September alongside the iPhone 12? Apple is likely to keep its more square design instead of switching to a round-faced watch like the one Samsung uses; However, whether that is more attractive or not depends on your own tastes. In addition to sleep tracking built into watchOS 7, the Apple Watch 6 is rumored to offer blood oxygen detection, also known as SpO2 monitoring, and a way to better control anxiety and mental health.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 3 is rumored to launch as soon as July, so we’ll likely see more leaks as we get closer to its presentation.
