Thanks to a new (and surprisingly brief) presentation of NIntendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase for July 2020, some of the upcoming titles in the Nintendo Switch third-party lineup have been revealed.
Lasting just over eight minutes, the short but sweet video offered a glimpse into various games, with the announcement of a new entry in the beloved Shin Megami Tensei series as the clear highlight.
Little is known about the recently announced Shin Megami Tensei V, apart from the RPG “it will have a simultaneous worldwide release on Nintendo Switch in 2021”, as revealed in the Nintendo press release. You can watch the teaser below.
In addition to the Shin Megami Tensei V announcement, fans of the series will be delighted to know that a remaster of Shin Megami Tensei III (known in Europe as Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer’s Call) is also on the way.
Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster arrives 17 years after the original game’s release, and it will be a “full HD remake” coming to Nintendo Switch in the spring of 2021 (or fall of 2021 for those in the southern hemisphere).
A trailer for the remaster has also been released showing the graphic leap between the original game and its new version. You can see that below.
More goodness of play
Along with those titles, the Nintendo Direct Mini presentation showcased a handful of other new games and DLC packs aimed at the platform.
One of these games is Rogue Company, a stylish multiplayer third-person shooter that offers cross-platform play and cross-save functionality.
Also announced for the Nintendo Switch WWE 2K Battlegrounds, an over-the-top arcade-style fighting game featuring a host of WWE superstars performing extravagant and spectacular special moves (think NBA Jam with body shots).
In addition, Nintendo also revealed three paid DLC packs for Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda. These include a character pack (available starting today), Melody Pack (available in October), and the Symphony of the Mask story expansion (also released in October) that lets you play as Skull Kid on a new map.
