More specifically, Google has teamed up with the developers of the 30 most downloaded apps on the Google Play Store to add supportive integration, including Spotify, Snapchat, Twitter and more.
“People do a lot more with their apps than just open and search in apps, and we want to enable voice commands for those frequent tasks,Google explains.
“Now you can play music, start a run, post on social media, order food, pay back a friend, increase the ride – the list goes on and you can do it all with your voice. Starting today, you can try to do more using your voicemail, with more apps available globally in English, with over 30 top apps on Google Play.”
Google Assistant is an essential part of the experience behind the wheel, so this new ad is also big news for Android Android toe users.
Many of the apps that get Assistant integration are already available on Android on Toe, and this clearly paves the way for more advanced hands-free interactions while driving. In Spotify, for example, Google Assistant will let you start playing specific mixes and playlists, simply by saying, “Hey Google, open Motivation Mix on Spotify.”
Needless to say, this Google Assistant update also allows drivers to do more with voice commands behind the wheel. For example, with enhanced support for voice commands, apps can post new content (such as Twitter or Snapchat), log activity (in activity tracking tools like MyFitnessSp like), or find products in stores online. Yet this is clearly not recommended behind the wheel.
Google will also allow users to create custom shortcut phrases for all of these, for example, if you want to play a special mix on Spotify, you can configure the command to do something. “Hey Google, let’s start the party.”
