“Our Blockbuster store is open because of the incredible local community in Bend, and we were grateful to have the support of those outside our city because the coronavirus pandemic has affected our business,” she wrote on Airbnb. “To pay it forward and pay out in this tradition of support, Airbnb will make a donation to the Humane Society of Central Oregon, a long-time partner of ours.”
Harding says guests will have the store completely to themselves, and that everything will be thoroughly cleaned between visits, followed by recommendations from CDC.
“We’ve created the perfect space, complete with a pull-out couch, bags and pillows for you to socialize with ‘new releases’ from the’ 90s, ‘reads the Airbnb description.’ Crack opened a two-liter Pepsi before lock yourself in a video game, map out your future in a MASH game, or watch movie after movie, but be careful to recite “Bloody Mary” in the staff pool in front of the room, because you just might have the ghost “Call to haunt the store. And help yourself to some NERDS, raisinets and popcorn (heavy on butter), but make sure you save space for a few spots.”
After the sleepovers, the living room setup will remain with the Blockbuster for a limited time, and customers will be able to check it for themselves during shopping hours.
